Configuring Two-way Frame Delay Measurement

Context

  • To measure the two-way frame delay at a time or a specific number of times, use the on-demand mode.

  • To measure the two-way frame delay periodically, use the proactive mode.

Procedure

  • Configure on-demand two-way frame delay measurement.

    1. Perform the following operations on the MEP and RMEP.

      1. Run system-view

        The system view is displayed.

      2. Run cfm md md-name

        The MD view is displayed.

      3. Run ma ma-name

        The MA view is displayed.

      4. Run map vlan vlan-id

        The MA is bound to a VLAN.

      5. Run mep mep-id mep-id interface interface-type interface-number [ pe-vid pe-vid ce-vid ce-vid ] { inward | outward }

        An MEP is configured.

      6. Run remote-mep mep-id mep-id [ mac mac-address ]

        The remote MEP ID is configured.

      7. Run mep ccm-send [ mep-id mep-id ] enable

        The CCM transmission function is enabled.

      8. Run remote-mep ccm-receive [ mep-id mep-id ] enable

        The CCM reception function is enabled.

      9. (Optional) Run delay-measure two-way threshold threshold-value

        The alarm threshold for two-way frame delay measurement is set.

    2. On the receiver RMEP, perform the following operation:

      Point-to-point scenario

      Performance statistics collection not based on a test instance:

      Run delay-measure two-way receive mep mep-id

      The receiver is enabled to receive DMMs.

      Performance statistics collection based on a specified test instance:

      1. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id { remote-mep mep-id } [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

        A test instance is configured.

      2. Run delay-measure two-way receive test-id test-id

        The receiver is enabled to receive DMMs.

      Point-to-multipoint scenario

      1. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id { remote-mep mep-id } [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

        A test instance is configured based on RMEPs.

      2. Run delay-measure two-way receive test-id test-id

        The receiver is enabled to receive DMMs.

    3. On the initiator MEP, perform the following operation:

      Point-to-point scenario

      If the size or priority of outgoing DMMs needs to be specified, configure statistics collection based on a specified test instance.

      Performance statistics collection not based on a test instance:

      Run delay-measure two-way send mep mep-id { mac mac-address | remote-mep mep-id } interval { 1000 | 10000 } count count-value

      Two-way frame delay measurement is configured in a VLAN.

      Performance statistics collection based on a specified test instance:

      1. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id { remote-mep mep-id } [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

        A test instance is configured.

      2. Run delay-measure two-way send test-id test-id interval { 1000 | 10000 } count count [ packet-size packet-size ]

        Two-way frame delay measurement is configured in a VLAN.

      Point-to-multipoint scenario

      1. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id { remote-mep mep-id } [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

        A test instance is configured based on RMEPs.

      2. Run delay-measure two-way send test-id test-id interval { 1000 | 10000 } count count [ packet-size packet-size ]

        Two-way frame delay measurement is configured in a VLAN.

      VLAN-specific two-way frame delay measurement is implemented based on an RMEP ID or destination MAC address:
      • If the local MEP has not learnt the MAC address of the RMEP, specify the RMEP destination MAC address before implementing two-way frame delay measurement.

      • If the local MEP has learnt the MAC address of the RMEP, specify the RMEP ID before implementing two-way frame delay measurement.

  • Configure proactive two-way frame delay measurement.

    1. Perform the following operations on the MEP and RMEP.

      1. Run system-view

        The system view is displayed.

      2. Run cfm md md-name

        The MD view is displayed.

      3. Run ma ma-name

        The MA view is displayed.

      4. Run map vlan vlan-id

        The MA is bound to a VLAN.

      5. Run mep mep-id mep-id interface interface-type interface-number [ pe-vid pe-vid ce-vid ce-vid ] { inward | outward }

        An MEP is configured.

      6. Run remote-mep mep-id mep-id [ mac mac-address ]

        The remote MEP ID is configured.

      7. Run mep ccm-send [ mep-id mep-id ] enable

        The CCM transmission function is enabled.

      8. Run remote-mep ccm-receive [ mep-id mep-id ] enable

        The CCM reception function is enabled.

      9. (Optional) Run delay-measure two-way threshold threshold-value

        The alarm threshold for two-way frame delay measurement is set.

    2. On the receiver RMEP, perform the following operation:

      Performance statistics collection not based on a test instance:

      Run delay-measure two-way receive mep mep-id

      The receiver is enabled to receive DMMs.

      Performance statistics collection based on a specified test instance:

      1. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id { remote-mep mep-id } [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

        A test instance is configured.

      2. Run delay-measure two-way receive test-id test-id

        The receiver is enabled to receive DMMs.

      Point-to-multipoint scenario

      1. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id { remote-mep mep-id } [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

        A test instance is configured based on RMEPs.

      2. Run delay-measure two-way receive test-id test-id

        The receiver is enabled to receive DMMs.

    3. On the initiator MEP, perform the following operation:

      If the size or priority of outgoing DMMs needs to be specified or there is the high requirement on the detection accuracy, configure statistics collection based on a specified test instance.

      Performance statistics collection not based on a test instance:

      Run delay-measure two-way continual send mep mep-id { mac mac-address | remote-mep mep-id } interval 30000

      Proactive two-way frame delay measurement is configured in a VLAN.

      Performance statistics collection based on a specified test instance:

      1. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id { remote-mep mep-id } [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

        A test instance is configured.

      2. Run delay-measure two-way continual send test-id test-id interval { 1000 | 10000 | 15000 | 30000 } [ packet-size packet-size ]

        Proactive two-way frame delay measurement is configured in a VLAN.

      Point-to-multipoint scenario

      1. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id { remote-mep mep-id } [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

        A test instance is configured based on RMEPs.

      2. Run delay-measure two-way continual send test-id test-id interval { 1000 | 10000 | 15000 | 30000 } [ packet-size packet-size ]

        Proactive two-way frame delay measurement is configured in a VLAN.

      VLAN-specific two-way frame delay measurement is implemented based on an RMEP ID or destination MAC address:
      • If the local MEP has not learnt the MAC address of the RMEP, specify the RMEP destination MAC address before implementing two-way frame delay measurement.

      • If the local MEP has learnt the MAC address of the RMEP, specify the RMEP ID before implementing two-way frame delay measurement.

    4. (Optional) Configure thresholds for two-delay measurement based on a test instance on both devices.

      • Run delay-measure two-way delay-threshold test-id test-id upper-limit upper-limit lower-limit lower-limit

        Delay thresholds are configured.

      • Run delay-measure two-way variation-threshold test-id test-id upper-limit upper-limit lower-limit lower-limit

        Variation thresholds are configured.
