Configuring Single-ended SLM in a VLAN

Context

To collect packet loss statistics on a point-to-multipoint or multipoint-to-multipoint link, you can deploy single-ended SLM to monitor the link quality.

Single-ended SLM in a VLAN falls into on-demand and proactive single-ended SLM. On-demand single-ended SLM, which is triggered manually, collects single-ended frame loss statistics for diagnosis at one time or periodically. Proactive single-ended SLM is carried out continuously.
  • To collect single-ended SLM statistics at one time or periodically, configure on-demand single-ended SLM.

  • To collect single-ended SLM statistics continuously, configure proactive single-ended SLM.

Procedure

  • Configure on-demand single-ended SLM.

    1. Perform the following operations on both devices of the link enabled with single-ended SLM.
      1. Run system-view

        The system view is displayed.

      2. Run cfm md md-name

        The MD view is displayed.

      3. Run ma ma-name

        The MA view is displayed.

      4. Run map vlan vlan-id

        The MA is bound to a VLAN.

      5. Run mep mep-id mep-id interface interface-type interface-number [ pe-vid pe-vid ce-vid ce-vid ] { inward | outward }

        A MEP is configured.

      6. Run remote-mep mep-id mep-id [ mac mac-address ]

        The remote MEP ID is configured.

      7. Run mep ccm-send [ mep-idmep-id ] enable

        The MEP is enabled to send CCMs.

      8. Run remote-mep ccm-receive [ mep-idmep-id ] enable

        The RMEP is enabled to receive CCMs.

      9. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id { remote-mep mep-id } [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

        A test instance is configured.

    2. Perform the following operation on the receive device of the link enabled with single-ended SLM.

      Run loss-measure single-ended-synthetic receive test-id test-id [ time-out timeout-value ]

      The device is configured to receive SLM frames.

    3. Perform the following operation on the transmit device of the link enabled with single-ended SLM.

      Run loss-measure single-ended-synthetic send test-id test-id interval { 3.3 | 10 | 100 | 1000 | 10000 } [ sending-count count-value ] [ time-out time-out-value ] [ packet-size packet-size ] [ measurement-count measurement-count ]

      On-demand single-ended SLM is configured.

  • Configure proactive single-ended SLM.

    1. Perform the following operations on both devices of the link enabled with single-ended SLM.
      1. Run system-view

        The system view is displayed.

      2. Run cfm md md-name

        The MD view is displayed.

      3. Run ma ma-name

        The MA view is displayed.

      4. Run map vlan vlan-id

        The MA is bound to a VLAN.

      5. Run mep mep-id mep-id interface interface-type interface-number [ pe-vid pe-vid ce-vid ce-vid ] { inward | outward }

        A MEP is configured.

      6. Run remote-mep mep-id mep-id [ mac mac-address ]

        The remote MEP ID is configured.

      7. Run mep ccm-send [ mep-idmep-id ] enable

        The MEP is enabled to send CCMs.

      8. Run remote-mep ccm-receive [ mep-idmep-id ] enable

        The RMEP is enabled to receive CCMs.

      9. Run test-id test-id mep mep-id { remote-mep mep-id } [ 8021p 8021p-value ] [ description description ]

        A test instance is configured.

    2. Perform the following operation on the receive device of the link enabled with proactive single-ended SLM.

      Run loss-measure single-ended-synthetic receive test-id test-id [ time-out timeout-value ]

      The remote device is configured to receive SLM frames.

    3. Perform the following operations on the initiator of the link enabled with proactive single-ended SLM.

      Run loss-measure single-ended-synthetic continual sendtest-idtest-idinterval { 3.3 | 10 | 100 | 1000 | 10000 } [ sending-countcount-value ] [ time-outtimeout ] [ packet-sizepacket-size ]

      Proactive single-ended SLM is configured.

    4. (Optional) Configure the remote packet loss ratio thresholds for single-ended SLM on both devices.

      • Run loss-measure single-ended-synthetic remote-ratio-threshold test-id upper-limit upper-limit lower-limit lower-limit

        Remote packet loss rate thresholds are configured for single-ended SLM.

      • Run loss-measure single-ended-synthetic local-ratio-threshold test-id upper-limit upper-limit lower-limit lower-limit

        Local packet loss rate thresholds are configured for single-ended SLM.
