Configuring the Upper and Lower Alarm Thresholds for Multicast Entry Usage on a User-Side IGMP/MLD Device

Context

A user-side device running Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) or Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) has an upper limit for the number of multicast entries. When this upper limit is reached, the device cannot create new entries, so it will reject new multicast service requests. To resolve this issue and facilitate device maintenance, configure the upper and lower alarm thresholds for the multicast entry usage on a user-side IGMP/MLD device. This enables you to learn the multicast entry usage status in time.

Procedure

Run system-view
The system view is displayed.
Run multicast-mib
The multicast MIB view is displayed.
Run mgmd host { star-group-number | source-group-number } threshold-alarm upper-limit upper-limit-value lower-limit lower-limit-value
The upper and lower alarm thresholds are configured for the entry usage of all instances.

In this command:
- star-group-number indicates that the alarm thresholds are for the (*, G) entry usage of all instances.
- source-group-number indicates that the alarm thresholds are for the (S, G) entry usage of all instances.
- upper-limit-value specifies the upper alarm threshold. If the proportion of multicast entry usage of all instances created to the maximum multicast entry usage of all instances allowed reaches this threshold, a multicast entry usage alarm is reported.
- lower-limit-value specifies the lower alarm threshold. If the proportion of multicast entry usage of all instances created to the maximum multicast entry usage of all instances allowed falls below this threshold, a multicast entry usage clear alarm is reported.
- upper-limit-value must be greater than lower-limit-value.
By default, upper-limit-value is 80% and lower-limit-value is 75%.
