Configuring Portal Authentication

In Portal authentication, users do not need a specific client. The Portal server provides users with free portal services and a Portal authentication page. Portal authentication uses an external Portal server and a built-in Portal server.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Portal authentication only provides a user authentication solution. To implement this solution, the AAA function must also be configured. Therefore, complete the following tasks before you configure Portal authentication:

  • Configure the authentication domain and AAA scheme on the AAA client.
  • Configure the user name and password on the RADIUS or HWTACACS server if RADIUS or HWTACACS authentication is used.
  • Configure the user name and password manually on the network access device if local authentication is used.
