Licensing Requirements and Limitations for Cloud-based Management of AC

Involved Network Element

AP

  • APs mentioned in this document are Huawei AP products. You are advised to use Huawei APs to connect to the AC.
  • You can run the display ap-type all command to check the default AP types supported by the device.

    For details about the supported Fit AP models in the cloud management scenario, see section "Version Mapping and Restraints" in the CloudCampus Solution Product Documentation.

Licensing Requirements

In the CloudCampus Solution, licenses are used to control the number of APs that can be managed by iMaster NCE-Campus and the service duration. Users need to purchase licenses from service providers and import the licenses to the iMaster NCE-Campus. After an AC goes online, the iMaster NCE-Campus delivers license resources to the AC. If the AC is out of management by the iMaster NCE-Campus, AP entries and license resources on the AC are still available, and the AC can still manage and configure APs.

If an AC in NETCONF mode obtains a license delivered by iMaster NCE-Campus (you can run the display cloud license command to query the expiration time of the delivered license), the AC uses this license to manage APs. If the AC has never gone online on iMaster NCE-Campus or iMaster NCE-Campus has never delivered a license to the AC, the AC can use the local license to manage APs.

If the AC switches from the NETCONF mode to the traditional mode, the license delivered by iMaster NCE-Campus becomes invalid and the AC can only use the local license to manage APs.

Feature Support in V200R019C10

This feature is supported only by the following models: S5720-HI, S5730-HI, S5731-H, S5731S-H, S5732-H, S6720-HI, S6730S-H, and S6730-H.

Other Requirements

The upstream device directly connected to an AC must be able to transmit the PnP VLAN to downstream devices.

Before configuring reliability networking between ACs, ensure that all the ACs register with the iMaster NCE-Campus.

Feature Limitations

An AC in NETCONF mode cannot directly maintain AP entries locally. The commands listed in Table 1 are not supported and corresponding functions cannot be configured on the web platform. After the AC registers with iMaster NCE-Campus and goes online, the AP entries delivered by iMaster NCE-Campus

Table 1 Commands that are not supported by ACs in NETCONF mode

Command

Function Description

ap auth-mode { mac-auth | no-auth | sn-auth }

undo ap auth-mode

Configure the AP authentication mode.

For an AC working in NETCONF mode, the AP authentication mode is SN authentication.

ap blacklist mac ap-mac1 [ to ap-mac2 ]

undo ap blacklist { mac ap-mac1 [ to ap-mac2 ] | all }

Add APs to an AP blacklist, or delete APs from an AP blacklist.

ap modify ap-id mac ap-mac

Modify the MAC address of an AP.

ap whitelist { mac ap-mac1 [ to ap-mac2 ] | sn ap-sn1 [ to ap-sn2 ] }

undo ap whitelist { mac { ap-mac1 [ to ap-mac2 ] | all } | sn { ap-sn1 [ to ap-sn2 ] | all } }

Add APs to an AP whitelist, or delete APs from an AP whitelist.

ap-confirm { all | mac ap-mac | sn ap-sn }

Confirm an unauthenticated AP and allows it to go online.

ap-name ap-name

Configure an AP name.

ap-rename { ap-name name | ap-mac ap-mac-address | ap-id ap-id } new-name ap-new-name

Change the name of an AP.
