Impact on the System

A delay or packet loss may occur when the traffic volume is close to 100% of the bandwidth.

Possible Causes

The interface traffic statistics collection period can be configured. The default value is 300s. The average rate of the previous statistics collection period is calculated in every 1/6 of the statistics collection period and then divided by the interface bandwidth to obtain the interface bandwidth usage. If the interface bandwidth usage exceeds the interface alarm threshold, the interface rate threshold-crossing alarm is triggered.

Procedure

1.Run the display this interface command in the interface view to check whether the traffic volume threshold is proper for the actual service conditions.

If the threshold is too low, go to Step 2.
If the threshold is proper, go to Step 3.

2.Run the trap-threshold output-rate threshold_value command in the interface view to set a proper alarm threshold. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

If the alarm is cleared, go to Step 4.
If the alarm persists, go to Step 3.

3.Collect the trap, log, and configuration information, and then contact technical support personnel.
