The eap authentication-type command configures an EAP authentication mode for an 802.1X supplicant template.
The undo eap authentication-type command restores the default configuration.
By default, CHAP is used for EAP authentication.
Usage Scenario
When a device that functions as an 802.1X supplicant performs 802.1X authentication, you need to run the eap authentication-type command to specify an EAP authentication mode for the 802.1X supplicant template. The device supports CHAP and PAP authentication modes. While PAP transmits passwords in plain-text with low security, CHAP transmits passwords in ciphertext with higher security. The default mode is CHAP.
Precautions
In VS mode, this command is supported only by the admin VS.
