Enabling the Diameter Function

To use Diameter for AAA, you must enable the Diameter function. Otherwise, a Diameter client cannot establish connections with Diameter servers.

Context

To use Diameter for AAA, enable the Diameter function first. Then, you can configure some optional Diameter functions, such as the format of the Subscription-Id attribute sent to the Diameter server, maximum number of times a probe packet can be retransmitted, and the maximum number of times a CCR-I message can be retransmitted.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run diameter enable

    The Diameter protocol is enabled on the router.

  3. (Optional) Run diameter subscription-id include { mac-address { macaddr_separator | noseparator } [ subscription-separator ] | username [ subscription-separator ] | circuit-id [ subscription-separator ] } *

    A format is set for the Subscription-ID attribute to be sent to Diameter servers.

  4. (Optional) Run diameter-dwr { retransmit retry-times | timeout second } *

    The number of dog-watch-request (DWR) probe packet retransmissions and a probe timeout period are configured.

  5. (Optional) Run diameter gx event-trigger version { r940 | r970 }

    The Usage_Report value is set for Event-Trigger.

  6. (Optional) Run diameter gx ccri retransmit

    The maximum number of retransmissions for a CCR-I message is set.

    A CCR-I message is retransmitted to a Diameter server if the CCR-I message is not received by the server or the response CCA-I message is discarded by the client. The message is not retransmitted any more when the specified maximum number of retransmissions is reached.

  7. Run commit

    The configuration is committed.
