Topology-Independent Loop-Free Alternate (TI-LFA) FRR can be configured to enhance the reliability of a Segment Routing (SR) network.
On the network shown in Figure 1, IS-IS is enabled. The cost of the link between Device C and Device D is 100, and the cost of other links is 10. Based on node SIDs, an SR-MPLS TE tunnel (Device A -> Device B -> Device E -> Device F) is established from Device A to Device F through static explicit paths.
The SR-MPLS TE tunnel established based on node SIDs is a loose one that supports TI-LFA FRR. TI-LFA FRR can be configured on Device B to provide local protection, enabling traffic to be quickly switched to the backup path (Device A -> Device B -> Device C -> Device D -> Device E -> Device F) when the link between Device B and Device E fails.
In this example, TI-LFA FRR is configured on DeviceB to protect the link between DeviceB and DeviceE. On a live network, you are advised to configure TI-LFA FRR on all nodes in the SR domain.
The configuration roadmap is as follows:
Configure IS-IS on the entire network to implement interworking between devices.
Enable MPLS on the entire network and configure SR.
Enable TI-LFA FRR and anti-microloop on Device B.
To complete the configuration, you need the following data:
MPLS LSR ID of each device
SRGB range of each device
